“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven” (Mt 5:3) …. any questions?
Many students of the Gospels agree: Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount captures the heart and mind of the Master like no other New Testament passage. What a concise, compelling, and comprehensive presentation of the Kingdom of God!
And I love Jesus’ profound clarity as He begins: Humble people are so blessed because this attitude is the first step to fully experiencing the power and presence of God (Mt 5:3 per Charlie’s Standard Version).
What’s confusing about that?
From the get-go of my journey with Jesus, my heart has been powerfully shaped by the straightforward Beatitudes which, in turn, have reinforced another great truth: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Tim 3:16).
How transformative it has been to read and meditate on God’s heart for decades!
So, when I walked into Jordan and Christy’s house earlier this year, I was blown away by the Kingdom clarity they have provided their five children. Way to go Ogden’s!
What’s confusing about Jordan and Christy’s vision and values?
From the get-go, their kids have undoubtedly been blessed by this compelling clarity! I really love this sermon on the wall; it’s so intentional and inspirational!
Obviously, their five children periodically need realignment to these ideals. Who doesn’t? But these codified priorities serve to promote more timely and consistent teaching, rebuking, correction and training in Ogden righteousness!
Today’s strong conviction: Clarity from the get-go is wise counsel!
Merry Christmas to all!
