I loved Jesus’ words first.
As a new follower of Jesus, it was incredibly lifegiving to open the Gospels, see the world through His eyes, and be taught by seasoned disciples. Jesus’ grace-filled words changed the whole trajectory of my life, and after almost 50 years of following Jesus, the Good News remains amazing! I still love the Masters words.
Learning Jesus’ ways, however, has been much more difficult.
Unfortunately, no one clearly explained to me the ways of Jesus. How He catalyzed Kingdom culture among His followers. How He intentionally prayed for, taught and modeled compassion, kindness, gentleness, forgiveness, authenticity and patience for His disciples. How He equipped them to be value carriers of a culture that prioritized loving relationships above all else.
And this culture Jesus exemplified was marked by a second key element: A priority on training disciples to serve others. “It was Christ who gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, some as pastors and teachers to equip His people for works of service” (Eph 4:11-12). I summarize these values as “equipping-based empowerment” and Jesus prepared His followers to be value carriers of this Kingdom priority as well.
Having arrived to the final third of my life, Jesus’ ways are clear like never before: He catalyzed a culture that prioritized the selfless love of others, and the equipping of His followers to fulfill their destiny.
My calling in this next season is to share what I have been learning. To that end, I have written a book on this subject entitled: The House of Jesus: Where Love and Empowerment Fuel His Message (Amazon).
So here is my invitation…
Take a few minutes and read a free synopsis on my new book available at www.HouseofJesus.net
As you will see, this book and website is for anyone who would like to join me in learning more about how to catalyze the culture Jesus modeled for us.
Only through Grace,
